Netvibes

Have been a massive fan of Netvibes for some time now. It's a site that allows you to build your own dashboard out of various widgets and notes like a multi-media chalk board for your digi kitchen. They've just updated their site and now you can make public parts of your netvibes account, mine's here.
I've also become a massive fan of the film cloverfield, saw it in a cinema the first time which probably contributed, the film can seem hard to take on smaller screens. It's shocking in the cinema. One of the things i loved about what JJ Abrams does is creating all these websites and media content that interweaves into the story. Like a site for a fake oil company whose deep sea oil drilling gets disrupted by the monster 2 months before the movie launched, or the fake drinks brand slusho. Much like Quentin Tarantino's fake product creation but what i love about JJ Abrams' stuff is the mutlimedia/multiplatform continuation of the story telling that happens on the web. Another extended media experience i really liked from recent years was the Animatrix stories that went around the Matrix movie's release, telling extended stories from the Matrix universe. So recently i have been talking with my friend and programmer/cgi creator Gwynne Reddick about making a story based on a very openly vast plot line which many people could tell on many platforms. Like the Cloverfield back stories on the web but there is no movie. The story would be a network of short video clips, blogs, written word, comic book scripts that all combine together to form a story the viewer can pick and choose which scenes to watch.
